Getting There

Businesses located between Arctic and Pacific avenues are open to customers and can be accessed via Winston Salem Avenue.

A portion of Winston Salem Avenue between Arctic and Pacific Avenues will experience roadwork during working hours. Flaggers will be in place to direct vehicles through the work zone. Winston Salem Avenue will be fully open at the end of each day when work concludes.

Foot traffic from the Oceanfront can reach the Marina District via the Rudee Loop Connector Walk and sidewalks on Winston Salem Avenue.

Access to homes and businesses located on Winston Salem Avenue will be maintained through the duration of the project.

Improvements to Winston Salem Avenue
This project will enhance connectivity between Mediterranean Avenue, the Rudee Loop Walkway and Pacific Avenue. In addition, it will provide increased safety and improved aesthetics through new sidewalks, bicycle facilities, lighting, landscaping, on-street parking, crosswalks, accessibility upgrades, and utility improvements within the right-of-way.

“The Marina District: Open for Business” Campaign Materials Usage Policy
The “The Marina District: Open for Business” campaign materials, consisting of a flyer, a map, and social media graphics (collectively, “Artwork”), include intellectual property owned by the City of Virginia Beach.
The Artwork is available for use by businesses impacted by the Winston Salem Avenue Improvement Project, in accordance with the terms set forth herein, for the limited purpose of increasing awareness that Marina District businesses remain open during City construction as part of the Winston Salem Avenue Improvement Project.
Use of the Artwork should be limited to marketing and communication purposes directly related to promoting business operations in Virginia Beach's Marina District. The City of Virginia Beach strives to maintain the integrity of the campaign Artwork.
This limited license to use the Artwork shall terminate upon completion of the Winston Salem Avenue Improvement Project in 2026.
