Local businesses in the Marina District are open during City construction to improve pedestrian access and connectivity between Mediterranean Avenue, the Rudee Loop Walkway and Pacific Avenue.

Winston Salem Avenue Improvements Project Update | October 2026
The Winston Salem Avenue Improvements Project was completed at the end of September 2026. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy all that the Marina District has to offer!
The Winston Salem Avenue Improvements Project was a two-year project to enhance connectivity in the Marina District between Mediterranean Avenue, the Rudee Loop Walkway and Pacific Avenue.
The 18.5 million project that began in July 2024 includes:
- Enlarged 5-foot-wide sidewalk on the north end of Winston Salem and a 9-foot-wide sidewalk to the south
- Moving overhead utility lines to underground service lines
- New water and sewer lines to properties along the road
- Storm-drain infrastructure improvements
- On-street parking enhancements
- Upgrades to street lighting and landscaping
In addition, the project enhances pedestrian connections from the Resort Area to the Marina District through footpaths and bike facilities along the corridor, a longstanding goal of the Resort Area Mobility Plan.
